Hi you guys! I am just writing this blog to share with you guys this amazing Easter video about Freedom grow and one of our families https://youtu.be/QWXNocNFE8g
For Easter, we sent over 120 Easter baskets to children who have a parent on our list that is incarcerated for cannabis. Also, Karly Cramer and Randy Lanier flew out To the Akers family’s household and personally delivered their Easter baskets! They also gave their mom a check for $1,000 to help with the holiday. While Randy and Karly were traveling to Pennsylvania to deliver their baskets, Tracy, Curt, my mom, and I were in Washington finishing up over 120 baskets to be mailed to all of the children on our list.
What was extra special is that Craig Cesal came by for a visit while we put the baskets together! Craig served about 20 years in federal prison and has granted clemency by Donald Trump a little over a year ago. Craig decided to go on a road trip to visit everyone who was an advocate for him while he was in prison, my house was one of the stops he made along the way! He got on his motorcycle in Chicago and headed south to California and back up the West Coast. Tracie (a fellow Freedom Grow board member, Lance’s mom) and I were super honored to be one of his stops! What really meant a lot is that just before Craig got out of prison Freedom grow sent him some commissary money. He used the commissary money to buy himself a pair of shoes in prison. He wore those same shoes on his trip and retired them at my house due to snow!! He literally wore the shoes we bought him and walked out of prison with on his trip! Please enjoy this video about Craig and his shoes!
I was personally excited about this particular project because it’s the first time we were able to help with the Easter holiday! This project would not have been possible without the help from Trulieve and Air Wellness. My heart is personally touched that we were able to pull this off!
Everyone at Freedom Grow made this project a dream come true! It took the whole team to find the money, find the kids, find the prisoners, make sure the phone numbers were right, order everything, put everything together, and mail everything, it took all of us! I want to mention everyone’s name but I also don’t want to accidentally leave someone out so I will just say that literally every single person with freedom Grow played a major role! We will continue to do the best we can for our cannabis prisoners and their families in the future! Our next project is school supplies and clothes please let us know if you want to help!
