COUNTDOWN TO MY TWENTY FIFTH ANNIVERSARY IN PRISON

May 27, 2023, is just around the corner. Eight days to be exact. That day will mark my twenty fifth year in prison for a non-violent marijuana crime. I could fret about it and get mad until I turn blue in the face, but I choose not to. All I can say is, “Praise God!” Because damn it! Your heart is still beating, you’re still breathing, and you still have that flicker of hope that one day you might just see freedom. So with that in mind, I shall continue on, and might as well celebrate the day with a meal, a coke, and a good game of chess, looking forward instead of backward. For backward only brings me back to what I’ve lost instead of what I’ve gained. That is a new life in Christ. #freedwinrubi
