February was a busy month for the Freedom Grow team! In addition to all of our regular events and activities, we participated in the 40 Tons “Canna Get A Second Chance” Cannabis Career Fair in Hawthorne, California.
Canna Get A Second Chance” Cannabis Career Fair
The “Canna Get A Second Chance” Cannabis Career Fair was a huge success! It was held on February 17th in Hawthorne, California and we’re grateful to have had a booth at the event.
The goal of the career fair was to provide an opportunity for people with cannabis-related convictions to meet with employers who are looking to fill positions in the legal cannabis industry.
At the fair, Oakstream University awarded five scholarships to attendees. This was a great opportunity to help people with cannabis-related convictions obtain the education they need to help build their resumes.
In addition, we had two very successful breakout sessions. In these sessions, we dropped some major knowledge about cannabis and its benefits.
Who are 40 Tons?
40 Tons is a brand developed by Anthony and Corvain Cooper. In January 2021, Corvain was given clemency by President Trump and released from prison after serving 8 years of a Lifetime cannabis sentence!
Anthony and Corvain are now focusing on bringing restorative justice to people who have been impacted by the cannabis industry, specifically those who have been incarcerated because of it.
Freedom Grow Booth
We were very lucky to have Clint manning the booth for us. He did a fantastic job talking to people and sharing our message. He collected signatures for our petition and distributed information about our organization to help Bringing Light to a Dark Cell! Thanks Clint!
